Today, bowhunting is popular again. But now it is
mainly for recreation. Modern hunters like it because:
Shooting
a bow is harder than shooting a gun, and many people enjoy the challenge
and satisfaction of "doing it the hard way."
Bowhunting
reminds many hunters of how early man must have hunted.
Bowhunting
gets them closer to nature. It's quiet and feels more natural. There
are fewer hunters in the field during most bow seasons, and you can't
hear them shooting. Deer seem more relaxed.
There
are more hunting opportunities. Many bowhunting seasons are longer,
and occur in warmer weather than firearms seasons.
