Crossbow
Crosssbows
are short bows mounted on a stock so they can be cocked and aimed and
fired like a rifle, without holding the bowstring back. Crossbows are
easier to shoot than hand-held bows, but they are not more powerful,
so crossbow hunters need to use the same restraint as bowhunters. They
are not effective at long ranges.
Regulations regarding the use of crossbows as
archery equipment vary. Contact your local wildlife agency regarding
the use of crossbows in your state or province.
