You Have to Hit the Right Spot!

When you hunt with a firearm, you can sometimes hit an animal a little outside of the vital zone and still make the kill. This is because firearm cartridges have so much energy that the sheer shock of the impact can be enough to kill the animal. THIS IS NOT TRUE FOR BOWHUNTING.

When you hunt with a bow and arrow, you MUST be able to pick out the vital zone of your target and hit it or you will not be successful. There is very little margin for error.

When bowhunting, the only place you should shoot an animal is in the center of the chest. The heart, lungs, liver and many major blood vessels are located here, so a solid hit in the chest area will almost always result in a quick, humane kill and a good blood trail to follow. Also, the chest is larger than any other part of the body in most animals, so you have a bigger target to aim at and a larger margin for error.
