loading a muzzleloaderLoading through the Muzzle

Muzzleloaders are firearms that are loaded through the muzzle. Muzzleloaders are the predecessors to today's modern, breech-loading firearms.

The first muzzleloaders were developed in the 14th century. They developed over time until they were generally replaced by more modern firearms.

Most states and provinces have special hunting seasons for muzzleloaders, which enables hunters to have more hunting opportunities. Interest in muzzleloaders has increased in the last three decades. They have become very popular and many hunters enjoy the challenge of taking game with these primitive weapons.

Special care must be taken when using muzzleloaders.
