Tracking Big Game

Never give up on a blood trail until you've made every effort to find the next drop. If you lose the blood trail, start searching in ever-widening circles from the last sign. Deer will often double back and you may find sign in a completely different area.

Approach downed wildlife carefully.  Approach from behind and poke the animal with a stick.  If there is no sign of movement, touch gently on the eye. If the eye does not blink, the animal is usually dead.
