Ranges of Rifle and Shotgun ammunition

The size of the bullet or shot, the type and amount of powder, the type of firearm and its barrel length affect the distance a projectile will travel. Shot generally travels less distance than rifle or pistol bullets. Pistol cartridges generally have less powder than rifle cartridges, so the projectiles will travel less distance than rifle bullets. Rifle bullets can travel over several miles/kms.
