Permanent stands, such as homemade platforms or even tree houses that are built by hunters, are not recommended. Their structural safety is unknown and they usually weaken with age.
	Commercially made portable stands built by a reputable manufacturer that belongs to the Treestand Manufacturer's Association (TMA) are preferred. They're tested to be safe and reliable.
