ATVs and Snowmobile Responsibility
People who misuse ATVs and snowmobiles may disturb
wildlife and damage roads, trails or the environment. Frequently, they
also annoy or aggravate other people. Private landowners and public land
managers respond by restricting access to all motorized travel.
Following the safety rules is important. Acting responsibly
is equally important. If you use ATVs during your hunt:
- Know and follow all regulations & laws
regarding the use of ATVs and snowmobiles while hunting.
- Take care of the landscape. Stay
out of fragile areas, such as streams, wet meadows, extremely steep
terrain and some desert soils.
- Stay on trails designated for motorized
use.
- Don't chase or harass wildlife.
- Respect other hunters. Do not ride
your ATV during prime hunting hours or in areas where other people are
hunting.
- If you encounter other hunters on foot or with pack
animals, yield the right of way. Pull to the side of
the trail. Turn off your engine and allow them to pass.
- Keep your speed down to minimize
dust and noise.
