Hunting from a Boat

camo pfdWhen hunting from a boat, you should wear a PFD (Personal Flotation Device) at all times while on the water!

PFDs (also known as "life jackets") come in a variety of styles including camouflage vests (see image at right) and float coats.

PFDs:
  • Add buoyancy to keep your head if in the event you fall overboard.
  • Should be inspected regularly and must be kept in serviceable condition with no tears or leaks.
  • Are required by law (check your boating regulations for more information).
  • Come in Types I, I, III and IV (click to see illustrations).
  • Should be the proper size for the intended wearer. Always read the label of the PFD to make sure it is the right size based on the person's weight and chest size.
