Sights

There are several different kinds of sighting devices or sights that can be found on firearms. The most common are called open sights or iron sights, and consist of a “V” or notch in the rear, and a blade or a bead in the front.

Others have a peep or round hole (aperture) that you look through in the rear, and a post, or bead or other type of sight in the front.

Telescopic sights (scopes) have lenses inside that increase the magnification of the target (make it look closer than it is) and provide cross hairs, posts or dots that are used to sight in on the target.

Electronic sights look like scopes, but often have little or no magnification. Instead, they use battery power to create a lighted red dot inside the tube, which is used to sight in on the target.
