Hunter Responsibility
Why Do We have Hunting Laws?
Hunting laws do at least one of the following four
things:
1. Protect people.
2. Protect wildlife.
3. Ensure fair chase.
4. Ensure a fair distribution of game.
1. Protect people
The requirement to pass a hunter
education course, before hunting, is an example of a law that protects
people.
2. Protect wildlife
Laws that set hunting season
dates protect wildlife.
3. Ensure a fair chase
Laws that limit hunters' "method
of take" insure fair chase.
4. Ensure a fair distribution of game
Bag limits and other laws insure
that all hunters have an opportunity to bag game.
