Developing Your Hunting Plan

A hunting plan is an important part of every hunt. Your hunting plan should contain all the information necessary to help someone find you in case of an emergency. Start with the three Ws. In this case, WWW does not mean "World Wide Web." Instead, it means:

Where you are going
list bullet  Highlight an area on a map, or draw a map of your own.
list bullet  Be specific about your location.
list bullet  Notify someone if you change your plans while in the field.

Who you are with
list bullet  List names of the people you are with.
list bullet  List contact information (their phone numbers, addresses, etc.).
list bullet  Give descriptions or photos if necessary.

When you are returning
list bullet  Be specific.
list bullet  Allow for delays.
list bullet  Set "alarm" times. Tell your family or friends how long they should wait before taking action. (It is very important that you call someone if you change your plans and are going to be late.)
