Shooting Positions
There are four common shooting positions for rifle,
shotgun and handgun shooters: standing, kneeling, sitting, and prone.
Depending on the type of firearm, the manner in which you mount the
firearm may be different. There are also variations in each of these
shooting positions depending on the various shooting discipline or competition
you are involved with.
Many shooters will sight in their firearms by using
the bench shooting position. This is also a great shooting position
to learn rifle and pistol shooters skills. Trigger control, sight alignment
and sight picture should be mastered in the bench position before you
proceed to the four common shooting positions.

Your firearms instructor will help you learn these position. Positions
may change due to the type of firearm you are using and the shooting
discipline or competition you are involved with.
