Guide to Wildlife Identification
Warning for Hunters
Ensuring that your are taking legal game animals
requires the ability to identify animals by sex, age and species. In fact,
hunting regulations may require you to identify not only an animal species
and sex, but also the size of its horns, to within inches, or its antlers,
to a specific number and size of points or tines.
A
good pair of binoculars will help you correctly identify animals. At a
distance, they help you see details like color, antlers, horns, etc. You
may even want a spotting scope to help you identify animals at longer
ranges.
Take the time to identify the animal before you shoot!
